Merry Christmas!

Hello and welcome back faithful warp travelers to Nurgles favored cupboard. As you may remember a few weeks back that I had been working on something that was a surprise for you all.

I was shopping some time ago and came across a paint it yourself bauble set. Admittedly this is aimed for kids and I think it was pretty cheap. I looked at it and thought that if I prime and paint them with my model paints they will turn out rather well. I finished they last week and I think they have turned out rather well.

I will be painting another 5 cultists soon and I will have pictures posted up for you all as soon as they are done.

Until then may Papa Nurgle bring you something nice tomorrow for Christmas!

100th Post and 5 Completed Cultists!

Hello and welcome back to our favored cupboard of Nurgle. We have returned after a long traverse of the warp. It is also our 100th post, so I hope with my offerings of my first 5 painted cultists will suffice to Papa Nurgle.

I have painted my cultists to fit in my my Chaos Marine Army. The colour is a darker version of the Red Corsairs. The colour scheme is black and burgundy with a trim of brass. The models where pretty nice to assemble and paint. The only problem was the one cultists with bare chest. His front did not seem to clip on well and I had to try and sort it our with some liquid green stuff.

I am currently painting something for the current festivities  I wont spoil the surprise, but they should be done this coming week. I will then be starting on another 5 Cultists with Autoguns.

Until next time I hope that Nurgles blessing fall on all you faithful followers of the lord of Pestilence.

Crashed Aquilla Lander Completed

Good afternoon and thank you for joining us again at Nurgle favored cupboard. Now firstly I will apologise for being away for some time now, but some as you know I have had an entire house to decorate and let me tell you it is not fun. Most of that has now been done and the time I have had I have finished my crashed Aquilla lander.

I purchased  some Vallejo gloss varnish to paint over the glass sections once I had finished protect coating the piece with Army Painter's Matt Varnish spray. I think the end result has turned out rather well and I am pleased with the 'glass' effect I achieved  The only thing I don't like is the 'smiling faces' you will see in image below. It almost as if a lone guardsmen survived the crash and is beaming a smile outwards from the glass. 'Haha! You didn't kill me. The emperor is watching over me!'. Also as you can see below I ended up going for a golden Aquilla rather then the white one I was deliberating over.

On another note I picked up my new shiny Chaos codex today. The sultry voices from the warp are already calling me to read it entirely and decide what to buy from the new stuff, which will be hard because it all looks amazing! The new style of codex is awesome though and it well worth the extra cost. I have one of the new fantasy hardback books and they feel more sturdy.

Until the next time you grace Nurgle's favored cupboard, may Nurgles blessings fall on you.

Crashed Aquila Lander Almost Complete

Hello and good afternoon fellow travelers of the warp and worshipers of Nurgle. I thought I would update you all on my crashed Aquila lander. I should have it finished by the end of this weekend. All I have left to do is the Aquila, which I am torn between doing in white or gold and a scanner next to the cockpit. Other then that I just have to touch up a few bits here and there, protect spray it and then gloss varnish the glass.

I have never painted glass before so I spent a few hours browsing the webt and found a simple tutorial over at Dave Taylor Miniatures. I think it has turned out rather nicely. Once I have my lander done I have just finished priming 10 cultists fro mthe new Dark Vengence box set and I can't wait to get stuck into them.

Unfortunately that is all I have for you all this week, may Nurgle's blessing forever be in your favor.

Crashed Aquila Lander WIP

Good afternoon everyone and thank you for joining us again at Nurgle's favoured Cupboard. I apologise for the lack of updates from myself. I have been extremely busy sorting out my house the last few weeks. Any way I have been doing some work on my Crashed Aquila Lander while I can and I am not far off from having it finished. The picture isn't as good as I hoped as I didn't have anywhere nice to take it so I had to cram it into my light box. Once it is I will make sure I have another picture for you all.

On a side note I picked up my limited edition copy of Dark Vengence, I have to say that the miniatures are amazing. The next thing I am going to paint is 10 of the cultists for the box set. I just have to decide on whether to do the ones with the Autoguns or the ones with the ones with close combat weapons and Auto pistols. If anyone has any preferences let me know.

And that's all for today from the lusciously deceased garden of our beloved Plague Father.

Crashed Aquilla Lander WIP

Hello and good day to you all. Welcome back to Nurgle's favoured cupboard. I apologise for the lack of posts by myself I have not been captured by the Inquisition I been lurking in the shadows. All my spare time is currently being pumped into my new home. I am on my way over later for round two of wall paper stripping. I can tell you for those that have never done this that it is one of the most pain the ass things you can do. Maybe I have upset Papa Nurgle and it is punishment. If it is I hope this offering to him will reduce my suffering.

In the time I have had for my beloved hobby I decided instead of painting something small I would go for a larger piece. This is because I am unsure when I will be moving stuff over to my new domain and I wanted some easy to pick up as I often find that if I take large breaks in painting models I either misplace them or I forget what I was doing last or what colour I was highlighting.

The piece I am currently working on is Crashed Aquilla Lander from the Battle For Macragge. I picked this beauty up from eBay for about £7 a long time ago already sprayed and with a basecoat of Machrite Red. I have just finished going over the Machrite Red with Orkhide Shade as I wanted the Aquilla Lander to look like it was used for military purposes in an Imperial Guard regiment for a high commander or something.

So it's not much this week but I will give you another work in progress when I get some more done on it. Until next time I hope Father Nurgle is kinder with his blessings to you all.

Tale of Three Gamers (Orc & Goblins)

Good day to you all and thank you for dropping in to join us again. We apologise for being a bit slack lately. We've had a variety of distractions lately. Myself, I have been sorting the completion date on a purchase of my first house with my girlfriend. This all completes next week and this unfortunately means majority of my spare time will be put into moving in and getting the house decorated and what not.

However as I did promise last time I have finished my first 5 Orc Boyz with dual hand weapons the other day. I only need to glue a bit of static grass to them and they should be done. I am unsure when I will be able to get more Orcs done with 6th Edition being announced as I may start on some of my Chaos minions.

Before I forget, thank you all who voted for my Thunderwolf. I didn't have the time to put as much effort in as my Nurgle Chaos Lord and I was not expecting victory this time around.

That's all from me for the time being. I hope to get a post of something for you as soon as I have time. May Nurgle's favor be bestowed on you all and may his rot smite your enemies.

Tale of Three Gamers (Orc & Goblins)

Hello and welcome back to our favoured Cupboard of Nurgle. As I mentioned in my last post a week or so ago I had finished another 5 Night Goblins. I also said I would post some pictures of my army so far to show you the amount of models I have painted since last August.

The mighty greenskin horde
Now as you can see I have three blocks of infantry done so far out of four. I am currently working on the fourth block, which are five Orc Boyz with dual hand weapons. Once I finish my 1,000 point army the first thing I will be expanding on is increasing the size of the block of infantry from 20 to 40 models to gain the horde rule.

My latest unit completed

Now as you can see for the Night Goblins with bows I have only got a musician option as its a waste of points to pay the extra for a champion and standard bearer as these only benefit units when they are in hand to hand combat and as you can imagine the last thing I want for my archers is to be in combat. This unit will have a fanatic that I have not painted yet. I may even add him to the spear regiment so they have two fanatics I haven't decided yet.

Night Goblins with spears, along with fanatic and shaman

My Night Goblins with spears have the full command option as these guys will need as much help as possible in combat. When I expand my army I am going to chuck in a Night Goblin Big Boss with Great weapon and expand the ranks to 40 models. I am unsure what to do with the Shaman. He will be safer in the spear unit as the champion can answer any challenges, but because they are a combat unit he will also be in the greatest danger. Another plus side placing him with this unit is that he should be in range for most if not all the goblin spells.

Waaaaaaagh!
Finally here are my Orc Boyz unit with hand weapon and shield. Additions to this unit will be another 19 Boyz and an Orc Big Boss with Great weapon. Another reason I want to do this is that they are a pain to rank up at the moment as 10 of the models are conversion from the Ork Boyz from the Battle on Black Reach box set.

All in all I am pretty happy with my green skin horde and they have been a joy to paint. When I created this army I wanted the Orcs and Goblins to be unified  as a group of large tribe gathering together t osmite their common foes but also distinguishable from each other. The Orcs for example are from 'Da' Red Skullz' tribe that I made up and gave them a red spot colour. The Goblins I have painted with purple robes instead of the standard black. I haven't come up with a name for them yet though. Any suggestions let me know in the comments below.

I will also take this moment to shamelessly plug HOTpanda's competition over at The Chaos Manifesto that he is currently running for a free Games Workshop Gift Certificate for reaching 200 posts, which is a fantastic milestone. The more followers he gains the bigger the prize so get yourself over there and enter. You can find out more here.

Finally, and I promise I wont bore you any further with my rabble, is a reminder for you all to vote for your favourite Space Wolves Thunderwolf cavalry, which you can do at the top of the page. There are only 8 days remaining.

That's all for this week our fellow minions of the Plague Father, may his blessing of pestilence favour you always.

Tale of Three Gamers (Orc & Goblins) Update

Greeting fellow travellers of the empyrean. First of all please accept my apologies for our lack of updates lately. As some of you may know Diablo 3 was released last week. Myself and O'Shashar have been slaying demonic filth from Sanctuary. This has unfortunately taken time away from our beloved hobby. Never fear though as I have an offering for you today of some more of my Night Goblins that I finished before painting my Thunderwolf.

I am more please with this set of 5 Goblins because I remembered the  white triangles on the hood, which I feel helps to frame the face. I have just ordered some Army Painter Matt Varnish in a bottle so that I can apply the white triangles on my other 10 Goblins and then paint over it with the Varnish.

On my painting table at the moment are the last 5 Goblins of my 20 Goblin unit with short bows. There is slow progress going on at the moment as the lure of Diablo 3 is just too strong! I do want them done as soon as possible though as that will give me 3 fulls units out of 6 and having 62 models done out of 96 means I will have just under a third of my models left to do.

Until next time our beloved followers of Nurgle may his pox smites your enemies and if you have not done so try Diablo 3.

Mighty Simo's Thunderwolf Completed

Hello and good afternoon to you all. As you may remember on 9th May we celebrated our first birthday here at Cupboard of Nurgle. Earlier this month we said we would celebrate with a single model painting challenge. Seeing as I got the most votes for our Nurgle Lord painting competition I had the honor of choosing the model we would paint. After some thought and some whispering in my ear by Dorn's Arrow I chose the recently released Thunderwolf Cavalry.

The multi-part plastic kits conveniently comes with models so that we had one each. I have to admit the kit itself is amazing with a wide range of options. My one gripe is that the model is not easy to put together. The wolf I used came in 11 different pieces, 12 if you count the saddle! It took me about 2 hours to assemble the model. I would suggest to people to leave the wolf and rider separate to make is easy to paint the model. If you choose the storm shield also keep this separate.

For the All Father!

If you would like to know how to paint your Thunderwolf Cavalry like this pick yourself up a copy of White Dwarf issue 387. I basically followed the painting guide in there. The only change I did was on the Space Wolf armor. The guide suggests a wash of Devlin Mud after the basecoat and then layering the basecoat. Instead I started with shadow grey, layers with a 50/50 mix of Shadow Grey and Space Wolves Grey. I then highlighted with pure Space Wolves Grey followed by a 50/50 mix of bleached bone and Space Wolves Grey.

I don't think I would fancy seeing this in front of me.

O'Shashar and Dorn's Arrow should have their Thunderwolves posted up in the next few days and we welcome our faithful followers to send in pictures of their Thunderwolves. We will then have a vote to see who has the best painted model.

That's all I have for you this week our follower minions of Nurgle. However, on one of my earlier posts I mentioned that I have another five of my Night Goblins done, which I hope to share with you all soon. May Nurgle's blessings fall upon you.

Tale of 3 Gamers Update (Orc and Goblins)

Good day and welcome back to our humbled Cupboard of Nurgle. In the cupboard this week I have an offering of some painted Gobbo's for my Orc and Goblin Horde. I am currently finishing off another 5, which I hope to get done by this weekend so that I can attempt to get my Space Wolf Thunderwolf Cavalry underway and done by the 9th May, which will be a bit of a challenge with the size of it.

So hopefully by this weekend I will have 15/20 of these done and I will be one step closer to having a 1000 point army to have game. I have noticed that I have forgotten to put the white triangles around the hood and this will need doing to tie them in with the Night Goblin Spear regiment. I will do this after I have finished my Thunder Wolf.

As O'Shashar has mentioned, we are doing this as a celebration of our first birthday. Unfortunately we will not be giving these models away, but we are welcoming others to submit photos of their Thunder Wolf Cavalry and we will have a vote for the best painted model again. The winner can walk away with the smug feeling of having the best painted model.

To prevent your hard work from being exploited by the inter webs we would suggest taking the picture that says Cupboard of Nurgle and your name or username. It will be easy to spot if anyone tries to pass of your model as work they have done themselves ;)

Please send you pictures to cupboardofnurgle@gmail.com

That's all for this week. Thank you for stopping by and may Nurgles blessings forever be in your favor.

Tale of Three Gamers Update (Orc and Goblins)

Good evening loyal followers of the decaying one. As I mentioned last week when I posted up my finished Night Goblin Shaman and Night Goblin Fanatic that I had 5 more models completed for you this week. I have completed the first 5 Night Goblins with Short bows. They have turned out rather nicely and I am currently under way painting another 5 at the moment.

Happy April fools day to everyone I hope you don't get pranked too badly!

As soon as have anything else finished I will make sure I get it posted up as soon as possible. Until next time thank you for stopping by our humbled cupboard and may the blessing of Nurgle fall upon you.

Tale of Three Gamers Update (Orc and Goblins)

Hello and good day to all you beloved followers of the Pestilent One. I was hoping to have this post up earlier in the week, but my Internet decided to throw me a curve ball and not work, the blasted thing! Anyway as I mentioned in my last post I had already finished two more models for my Orc and Goblin horde. I have finished my Night Goblin Shaman and an old school Fanatic.

This is one of my favourite Lord/Hero characters of the Orc and Goblins army and I just had to have to have it. The dynamic pose is brilliant. I was very tempted to try a glowing effect around his eyes and in the eye sockets of the skulls on his staff, but I wasn't brave enough to attempt this. I might try the technique out on a spare model and do it on another shaman as I already have an Orc Shaman lying around to be painted.

The fanatic model is one of the older metal models that I have had for some years now. I believe I originally got it for my Orc Bloodbowl team about 10 years ago. I thought he would come in handy for my Orc and Goblin list. I am not sure if you can notice, but I have tried to blend purple on his nose and cheeks to try and represent the Fanatic being intoxicated from Mad Cap Mushroom brew they drink before battle!

I am hoping to have more models for you later as I am just finishing a few off on my painting table. Thank you for stopping by our humble Cupboard of Nurgle and may the Plague Father watch over you wherever you may be.

Completed Legolas

Welcome back to Nurgle favoured cupboard. I apologise in advance as I have not had a post up in a while mainly due to the recent competition taking the spot light. Our final winner should get drawn next week.

Now I have finished another model that I wish to show you. A little later then I intended as I was hoping to have this done by Valentines day because it is a gift for my girlfriend. Seeing as we agreed not to buy anything for each other this year I thought I would give her a sentimental present instead. Legolas is her favourite character from the Lord of the Rings and she takes a bit of fancy to Orlando Bloom.

I followed the old paint guide from the Games Workshop site that is unfortunately no longer there (along with all the other paint guides due to the new paints GW are releasing). I think he has turned out really well and I might even say he is my best painted model so far!

Unfortunately that is all I have for you this week, but I already have two models finished for you next week to take a look at. I hope that the Great Papa Nurgle favours you all in your ongoing quest to spread his greatness.

Nurgle Lord Complete

Good afternoon fellow plague bearers, many of you may know that a couple of weeks back we reached 50 followers. Myself, Dorn's Arrow and O'Shashar are each painting a Nurgle Lord in a mini competition to commemorate this mile stone. The model was an obvious choice for the theme of our blog.

I have to say I have relished the opportunity to paint the Nurgle Lord. I have taken my inspiration for my paint scheme from the one by the 'Eavy Metal team. I have given it a slight twist and I am overall pleased with the outcome. The amour did not turn out as dark as I wanted and I am still unsure of the bloody pus coming from his belly. Anyway I am sure you all dying to see my Nurgle Lord so here are some pictures below.

If you wish to enter our competition in hope winning mine or my fellow bloggers Nurgle Lord all you have to do is become a follower to get an entry into the prize draw and you can get a 2nd entry if you post about our give away on your own blog linking to our original post. However to try and make it fair you can only win 1 of the 3 models.

I am sure my fellow bloggers will have pictures of their painted Lords soon. Thank you dropping by and remember to spread Nurgle's blessings far and wide.
