Citadel Finecast

So… exciting news with the announcement of the Citadel Finecast range, due out from the 28th May… all those tricky metal models with annoyingly heavy components to pin, soon to be a thing of the past. Sounds good to me :)

After seeing some screenshots on games-workshop.com I’m impressed by the quality and can’t wait to get my hands on some of them myself… but where to start… I’m now regretting my purchase of Warlord Queek Headtaker in metal only a month ago, as his large trophy rack looks almost certain to fall off at inopportune moments. If only I had waited…

And my Big Mek with Kustom Force Field… and my Terminator Librarian… and my Painboy… and (blah blah blah)… NOOOO!!!!

However I’m very excited to see if original sculpts will be released as well as the remolds of existing models, I’m hoping for a space marine captain with a Relic Blade as I’ve always fancied striking with my Initiative 5 at Strength 6, specially seeing as my Crimson Fists army tends to be geared around power fists (I hate striking last!). A nice model with 2 Lightning Claws wouldn’t go amiss for me either (not that I’m dissing the single Lightning Claw included in the plastic captain set, I wouldn’t dream of that :s).

I’d be interested to know what miniatures people want as their first Citadel Finecast purchase?

  1. I think my first will have to be a tyranid hive guard just so I can see if they are easier to put together and model the the three metal ones I've just built. They were really annoying. Give me some resin over that any day.

  2. Looking at the unofficial list the things really want are not on it (obliterators and chaos dreadnaught), but I would say the new resin will certainly be worth the extra cash for the larger and more complex models. Not so much so on the single casts.

For my first purchase I think I may get a special character, may be for Chaos or for my up and coming Orc & Goblin horde!

  3. I think my first one will have to be a Liche Priest when I start my Tomb Kings army after Blogwars as the Sphinx has a Tomb King included in there.

The £30 for 3 Ushabti is a cracking deal though the arms do look a little fragile so could be a prime shattering point.

  4. I've seen they are releasing Azhag the Slaughterer in the Finecast range, thats a perfect example of where the resin should win over metal, as he looked like an absolute beast for falling to bits. Wonder how much he will be though as i believe he was around £55 in metal last time i looked.

  5. according to giftsforgeeks.org.uk he will still be £55, been reading thew latest white dwarf on the finecast and I have to say im really excited now as it sounds too good to be true.

O'Shashar, I wouldn't worry too much as apparently the resin is 'springy' so it does not easily snap
